Brentwood Conservatives believe in keeping Council Tax low, whilst still delivering good services, which matter to residents.
We have a strong record of delivery here in Brentwood, where we have consistently kept Council Tax low, invested more in street cleaning, introduced weekly orange bag and food waste collections, retained weekly black bag collections, reduced the cost of parking, funded apprenticeship places and much more!
For 2016/17, we are seeking to build on this and make the following pledges:
■ Keeping Council Tax low: Brentwood Council will be charging less for Council Tax in 2016 than in 2010!
■ Protecting weekly black bag collections.
■ Working more closely with the Police to make our community safer.
■ Providing 30 minutes free parking in Council owned car parks.
■ Stepping up street inspections to ensure the roads and pavements are kept clean and litter and graffiti free.
■ Taking action on fly-tipping and illegal dumping of waste with extra investment in mobile CCTV operations.
■ Supporting strong community facilities like Hutton Community Centre.
■ Expanding apprenticeship opportunities across the borough in both the public and private sectors.
■ Promoting businesses and local shopping centres across the Borough.
In tough times, Brentwood Conservatives are investing where it matters and reducing waste and running costs to make sure taxpayers' money is well spent. We have already reversed the disgraceful decision by the previous Lib Dem-led coalition, that ran Brentwood Council to increase their allowances at a time when services are under strain. Instead, we have focused on cutting the cost of politics and ensuring more is available for well run services.
