Brentwood Borough Council - taking action to prevent High Street pavement parking

Anyone visiting Brentwood High Street will have noticed the new planters that have been installed to prevent illegal pavement parking.  These have been installed between Domino's Pizza and Nandos and each planter is around 1.8m in length.

Chris H

“There are very clear areas on the high street that allow for disabled parking, unloading for deliveries, and short term parking but there are still far too many times when vehicles are parked on the main pavements where people need to walk. Some drivers are just totally inconsiderate and double park restricting the flow of traffic particularly for buses. Frankly this poses a threat to the safety of pedestrians who are not only trying to cross the road with care but have every right to be able to walk on the pavements without having to negotiate the lazy and dangerous parking we so often see. These new planters will prevent that from continuing but will also add some colour and enhance the high street too.”

Brentwood Borough Council Leader, Cllr Chris Hossack
