Brentwood’s Conservative ward members for Brentwood South, Cllrs Miss Cheralyn Lewis and Michael Golding, have been working with Essex Police to provide support to prevent ongoing anti-social behaviour near Regency Court, Brentwood.
Reports over recent weeks from residents in and around Primrose Hill have highlighted a growing problem which Brentwood’s Conservatives are asking the Police to ‘nip it in the bud’ before it turns too serious.
“We are lucky in Brentwood that we face mainly low-level crime and our PCSO’s and Police Officers are responding positively to our request,” said Cllr Miss Lewis. “Several residents have had their back gates kicked in, racial abuse shouted at them and general nuisance from a small number of young people, especially at weekends.
“Essex Police have assured us that they will increase patrols and residents have told me that the situation is already improving. I am not looking to blame all young people – I myself worked for the local youth services for some time and most of them do good work – but small pockets of them have been causing us concern across the Borough, and we need to stop that.
“It is vital that our residents feel safe walking out at night and in their own homes,” she added. “Anyone with concerns should contact me or their PCSO, details of which can be found on the internet or by calling the Town Hall on 01277 312500. But if there is a specific crime witnessed, residents should never hesitate to call 999 and ask for Police support.”
