Constituency Organiser / Political Election Agent: Brentwood and Ongar Conservative Association

Brentwood and Ongar Conservative Association is seeking a constituency / political election agent.

 

The role is varied in content and would suit a self starter, with an interest in politics and the local community.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

Assisting all elected Conservative Members of the British Parliament, European Parliament and local Councils and to support the efforts of approved candidates in securing a successful election result.

 

Leading and organising Association events and assisting branches and the fundraising committee in their efforts and endeavours

 

Supporting the drive for increased membership of the Association and maintaining details of both existing and new members

 

Giving direction and support for all political campaigning across the constituency

 

Assisting in developing a plan for literature to support campaigning both in election and peace time periods

 

Assist branches in developing a Delivery Network

 

Running the Association Office

 

The role of Constituency Organiser is vital to the successful working of the Conservative Party.  The work undertaken includes:

 

·       Supporting all elected representatives and their campaigns stepping into the role of Agent as and when required. 

·       Raising funds for election and peacetime literature. 

·       Working with branches and building up membership

·       Ensuring the smooth running of the office and acting as central point for all political activity within the constituency.

 

 

The role requires a person to be proactive, responsible, hardworking and self-motivated.  Confidentiality is essential together with discretion and sensitivity.  Ideally, the role requires a lively, team building and energetic type of personality.

 

Hours

 

Hours can be variable and demanding during campaign periods and flexibility is therefore essential which is reciprocated during peacetime / school holidays.

 

Normal working hours 10am to 5pm subject to mutual agreement / personal situation.

 

The role is rewarding and flexible and for the right candidate, provides excellent exposure to the political field and internal workings of the Conservative Party.  Therefore, it is essential that you are sympathetic to the aims and objectives of the Party.

 

Skills

 

Essential: 

 

Secretarial skills with a good command of English

Strong communicator,

Organised, self- motivated, personable and capable of working under pressure and to tight deadlines

Able to prioritise and remain calm and loyal at all times.

 

Desirable:

 

Experience in media, politics, leadership and understanding of the voluntary sector.
