Brentwood Borough Council Leader, Cllr Louise McKinlay, has ‘risen’ to the challenge of answering the questions of her Hutton North ward residents who are in ‘knead’ of help, after holding one of her regular surgeries in a local bakery.
More than a baker’s dozen of residents popped into the Woodland Avenue Bakery in the heart of Cllr McKinlay’s Hutton North ward to discuss ideas for ward budgets, potholes in Woodland Avenue and praising Brentwood Borough Council’s free salt supplies for local residents to use to clear footpaths.
Councillor Louise McKinlay said: “I didn’t expect so many people to turn up, and apologised to the Woodland Avenue Bakery’s owner, Deborah Howe, afterwards for disrupting her morning’s business. Fortunately, Deborah was happy to have so many people through the door, some of whom were new faces to the shop and bought some cakes and buns as they left!
“I am very pleased to have given my residents the chance to bring their concerns to me face to face and also to support a local business.” added Cllr McKinlay
Councillor McKinlay is arranging a site meeting with Essex County Council to show them, first hand, the state of the road in Woodland Avenue after her residents raised concerns about potholes and heavy vehicles using the road. Ideas put forward for the ward budget to fund are being considered.
Councillor McKinlay will also be holding the next borough wide Leader’s Surgery in the Town Hall, Ingrave Road, Brentwood from 7pm to 8pm on Monday 28 January. All are welcome.
