Hutton North Conservative ward councillors, Louise McKinlay, has taken the advice of local school children about what facilities to provide at the Hutton Community Centre.
“I visited Shenfield High School and St Martin’s School to find out first hand what young people what from the Community Centre when it reopens,” said Cllr McKinlay. “I found the youngsters are as frustrated as I am that the Centre has been closed for so long, and they are really keen to be part of its new life.
“I think it is really important to get out in the community and find out what people want, face to face, and the Shenfield and St Martin’s pupils certainly did not disappoint me. They told me they would like to see a homework club, sports facilities and a cafe so they and their families can meet socially outside school. They’re also very keen to take part in a community action day to help paint a mural on one of the walls.”
Cllr McKinlay is keen to hear from any Hutton residents with ideas for the Centre, and can be contacted at Brentwood Town Hall on
