LOCAL RESIDENTS VIEWS SOUGHT OVER GREEN VERGE OUTSIDE BERMANS CLOSE

I have been contacted by local neighbours about the green verge outside Bermans Close which is in Hutton.

As residents living locally will be aware, this area is often used by vehicles, which park there either to use the Costcutter or to visit nearby houses.  During the winter months, this results in it becoming very muddy due to the constant footfall and I have had reports of pushchairs and wheelchairs having to step in to the road in order to be able to pass by.

I know that the two Hutton South Borough Cllrs Mark Reed and Roger Hirst also share my concerns about the issue

Local Residents - please let me know your views

Whilst I would normally be very hesitant about losing any green verges, in this particular case, it may be an option to either hardstand it or use grasscrete, which provides a harder surface over the grass (see photo below).

Grasscrete

If you are a local resident in the area could you please advise in order of preference, what action from the following, you would prefer to see:

  • Option 1 - leave the verge as it is.
  • Option 2 - hardstand the verge area.
  • Option 3 - grasscrete the verge area.

Please email me with your view at cllr.louise.mckinlay@essex.gov.uk and title the mail: “Bermans Close Grass Verge.”

Once I have received responses, I will then share the views with the Local Highways Panel for consideration.

Should you need help with any other matter, please do drop me a line.

Kind regards,

Louise
