Local Conservatives are set to oppose the decision to close the Shenfield branch of the HSBC Bank.
The move comes just weeks after Ingatestone was left without a Bank, following the closure of the local Barclays branch, despite a lot of local opposition.
Shenfield Conservatives have pledged to fight this new announcement.
Local Councillor Louise Rowlands said: "I'm disappointed to see that HSBC are closing their Shenfield branch and will be writing to them to ask them to reconsider. As the "world's local bank" they have a track record of providing services here in Shenfield, which are used by many local businesses and residents, including myself, and I hope that this continues.”
Jan Pound, Shenfield resident and candidate in the forthcoming by-election added her support to keep the Bank open and is campaigning alongside Louise to encourage the Bank to reconsider its decision.
