Newly Refurbished Town Hall
Monday 2nd was a good day in Brentwood when we finally opened our long awaited, newly refurbished Town Hall. More staff will be coming into the Town Hall over the coming weeks as we get fully up to speed.
The new reception area, staffed by the council’s fantastic customer service team, was getting really positive comments from residents that came in to use the services in our fantastic new community hub area. The hub is a place not only to access council services but also the DWP will have an office based there as well as some local community charities. The hub concept is really taking shape, Essex Police have already been in the building for some months. Couple that with the residential units and commercial office space for rent, then we truly have a multi-functional building delivering cross functional services and representing good taxpayer value.
I was pleased also to hold my first business meeting in the New Town Hall with a team from the Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) project. There was an update on the timelines and work completed to date plus the challenges ahead. Brentwood is already a super-connected town with M25, A12, A127, Crossrail terminus and 4 train stations all within it’s borders. Once the LTC comes on-line, hopefully sometime around 2027, then this again will strengthen Brentwood’s advantageous position and proximity to significant transport infrastructure, that we must capitalise on.
I want to make sure Brentwood residents are both informed and have a say in this important project as it evolves.
