Brentwood Conservatives have delivered on another election pledge made to residents earlier this year by approving the introduction of the "Brentwood Apprenticeship Scheme 2015/16."
Speaking after Wednesday's meeting of the Economic Development Committee, where the decision was approved by councillors, Chairman, Keith Parker said; "The intention is to work alongside the private sector to deliver a scheme that is both broad in the range of opportunities available and one which is sustainable. Brentwood has a high number of small and medium sized businesses which will be able to benefit from some matched funding enabling them to grow whilst also providing real roles and training for people."
Increasing the number of apprenticeships is a key aim of both the Government and Conservatives on Brentwood Borough Council. The local initiaitve will also provide opportunities for people recovering from mental health illness and discussions will take place shortly with support organisations to agree the best way forward to deliver this.
The scheme is expected to be up and running by the end of the year.
