With 852 votes, Conservative candidate, Jan Pound has won the Shenfield by-election, taking the seat that was previously held by the Lib Dems with an overwhelming majority of 369.
As a local Shenfield resident, Jan has worked tirelessly in the community and alongside fellow councillor, Louise Rowlands for some time. Together they have helped a number of residents in Shenfield on various matters relating to parking, road improvements, litter, planning and more.
Speaking at the count, Jan said, "I am absolutely delighted with the result and would like to thank the residents of Shenfield for electing me as their councillor. I will continue to work hard alongside my colleague, Louise Rowlands to improve our area and help tackle the different issues that have been raised. Thank you to everyone who helped in my campaign and I look forward to delivering for Shenfield residents."
Conservative Group Leader, Louise McKinlay welcomed Jan and said, "Jan works incredibly hard and will be a great asset to the Group. It was an excellent result, which is very much deserved. Jan has already helped a number of residents and is very positive about Shenfield. This has been recognised and I know she will repesent her residents very well."
