Hubert Road Industrial Estate is set to be regularly cleaned thanks to the efforts of local Brentwood West councillor, Will Russell.
After months of campaigning, Will has secured an agreement with management company, CBRE to carry out regular clean up sessions on the site, the first of which took place on the 27th July.
Will said, "Ever since I became a councillor, the site has been an eye sore with litter and debris strewn all over the place. I have organised a series of community litter picks over the last couple of years to try to improve the area but it really needs a more regular deep clean. I am delighted that the private land owners are stepping up to their community responsibilities and have agreed to ensure proper clean ups take place. This is very much welcomed and will make a real difference to the cleanliness of that part of Brentwood. We now need to ensure Countryside Properties address their part of the site too."
CBRE, who manage the site have agreed initially to carry out a quarterly clean of the area and will be monitoring whether this is sufficient or if additional work is needed. It is expected that the efforts will keep on top of the problem and that with the support of the Council and volunteers, who will be working in the surrounding roads, the site will be much cleaner.
Chair of the Environment Committee, Chris Hossack added, "This is a great result and testament to Will's hard work and perseverance. It will make a big difference to local residents and should reduce the litter blowing on to the public highway, helping to keep Brentwood cleaner."
